Family Business Ethics Institute Promotes Ethical Business Governance with Public Launch

Former United States Supreme Court Justices Potter Stewart once said, “Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do, and what is right to do.” Navigating ethical codes within any family business often means encountering blurred lines between familial bonds and business principles. In the spirit of helping define those lines and guiding businesses towards right ethical action, we proudly announce the global launch of the Family Business Ethics Institute (FBEI).

The Family Business Ethics Institute is a legacy project designed to promote ethical business practices while raising awareness and proposing solutions to the unique challenges family businesses encounter today. The multifaceted project includes a curated library of resources, original content on our new website, www.FamilyBusinessEthicsInstitute.com, and a book in development. Our ambition is driven by our ongoing efforts to spread this message and build a community of like-minded individuals. The idea for the Family Business Ethics Institute took shape in 2015, inspired by a vision to assemble a team of professionals to collaborate and provide family businesses with resources to power global change.

The project revolves around five core tenets: Family Unity, Good Governance, Ethics, Transparency, and Succession Planning. By championing ethical practices and endorsing family unity, the Family Business Ethics Institute intends to promote a  family business landscape where concepts, like our 5 tenets, are as important to organizations as profit maximization. We believe that we can help strengthen the moral fiber of family corporations and their communities everywhere while contributing to an interactive global community.
